Reflections on Internaut Day

Reflections on Internaut Day

Today is 23rd August 2016 – a beautiful, sunny and productive day, here in Luton at any rate!

On this day 25 years ago Sir Tim Berners-Lee and CERN made his invention – the World Wide Web – available to the public to access for free. You can still visit the very first website over at CERN today!

Little did we realise, back then, that this technology would have any impact on us – let alone that it would come to facilitate and sometimes dominate so many aspects of our lives. From online shopping to social networks, the web has become our gateway to the world. And our own industry, marketing, has been changed beyond all recognition by digital technology.

At StockdaleMartin we depend on the World Wide Web and internet technologies every day. You probably do as well. They make our work easier, more pleasurable and, above all else, possible. They enable us to communicate more effectively, work more efficiently, and deliver the quality service that we are so proud of.

So thank you Sir Tim and thank you CERN – here’s to the next 25 years!

Have your say!
